1.8 billion dollars investment in Turkey

Emil Alkhasly, Turkey Energy project director of Azeri state-owned energy company SOCAR, announced that BP and SOCAR plan to start construction of the new petrochemical plant in Turkey by the end of 2020.

BP and SOCAR signed an agreement for the construction of the plant in 2018.

“A tender was opened for the design of the plant and three companies participated. The results will be announced next month.”

Construction of the plant is expected to be completed by 2023, Alkhasly said.

The plant is designed to have a capacity of 1.250 million tons of purified terephthalic acid, 840,000 tons of paraxylene and 340,000 tons of benzene.

The cost of the project is expected to be 1.8 billion dollars.
