Apple, which agreed to pay $500 million to settle a lawsuit alleging that it intentionally slowed down older phone models, will pay $25 to customers with iPhone 6, 6S, 7 and SE phones upon request.
In 2017, Apple admitted that it had slowed down the performance of its older devices to “prevent unexpected shutdowns” and was sued by some customers. The company admitted that it was responsible as per the agreement reached with consumer lawyers.
After admitting its mistake, the famous technology company offered a $29 discount on battery replacements. However, many people applied to consumer lawyers, stating that they spent hundreds of dollars in this process, bought new phones and were victimized.
Although the California-based company did not admit its mistake on this issue, it chose to compromise with consumer lawyers and promised to pay up to $ 500 million, $ 93 million of which was given to lawyers.
According to the agreement, customers with iPhone 6, 6S, 7 and SE model phones will be able to get a $ 25 refund from the company if they request it.
