The 7th Search Conference, where the year was evaluated and 2017 projects were planned, was held at Antalya Mardan Palace Hotel between 21-25 December. The Search Conference was attended by the members of the LASIAD Executive, Audit and Disciplinary Boards and the secretariat.
LASIAD Family is expanding with other associations
The programme started with the general evaluation of 2016 by Giyasettin Eyyüpkoca, Chairman of the Board of Directors of LASIAD. Eyyüpkoca talked about the coup attempt during the year and the bad effect of the worldwide crisis on the market. He drew attention to the importance of the Search Conference with the words “If we evaluate the past well and analyse it well, we will approach the future with more confident steps”. The President of LASIAD expressed his satisfaction with the expansion of the LASIAD family with the words “We have two sister associations within the association with the Vice President Muhammet Sancaktar being the President of Bosnia Sancak Culture and Solidarity Association and Vice President Murat Özpehlivan being the President of KYSD”.

Muhammed Sancaktar, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of LASIAD, stated that he believes that participating in the Search Conference will be beneficial for everyone and that LASIAD has a special place among other NGOs. He explained the reason for this with the words “In LASIAD, everyone is fused with each other, acting in understanding and respecting each other’s ideas”.
Attention to e-commerce!
Ercan Hardal, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of LASIAD and Chairman of the Economic Projects and Fairs Committee, talked about the importance of participation in fairs for the sector. “We can show the culture of acting together by participating in the best fairs. Participation in fairs is quite weak. As LASIAD, we would like to provide support for participation in fairs, and we would like to work in the sense of announcing more to the companies.” Speaking about the LASIAD Card Project, Hardal said, “It was a good project that got results.” In his speech, Hardal reminded that e-commerce is a developing sector. Disciplinary Board Member Erdoğan Avit, who has entered the field of e-commerce, underlined the importance of the e-commerce sector and talked about the convenience in the field of production and shipment.

Ercan Çelik, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of LASIAD and Chairman of the Environmental Arrangement and Textile-Clothing Committee, stated that the general contraction in the markets is normal due to the troubled situation that our country has been going through in recent years. He underlined that some of the disruptions in the projects are due to the connection problems experienced in public institutions due to both the coup attempt and terrorist incidents.

Erdem Soylu Karabağlı, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of LASIAD and Chairman of the Magazine, Education and Media Relations Committee, talked about the projects carried out for Katip Kasım Primary School in his presentation. He reminded the importance of the eye screening activity for students and stated that they will continue these social purpose projects. He also emphasised on the LASIAD Card project and updating the LASIAD website.

İrfan Akbaş, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of LASIAD and Chairman of the Member and Public Relations Committee, made a market evaluation in his speech. Stating that there are problems in terms of member acquisition, Akbaş talked about what needs to be done to strengthen member relations. He emphasised the actions to be taken for members and companies in the region to gain members.
International projects at full speed!
Murat Özpehlivan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of LASIAD and Chairman of the EU and International Relations Committee, talked about the projects carried out by the committee. Özpehlivan, who reported the stage reached in the International Websites Project, also expressed what has been done with the TwoMonthsTwo Hands Project, Goodwill and Cooperation Project and Overseas Business Travel Project.

LASIAD Board of Directors and Tourism-Corporate Relations Committee Member İhsan Bıyıkbeyi made a presentation on behalf of the Tourism and Corporate Relations Committee. In his presentation, he talked about the 2016 EMITT Fair stands and Tulip Stars projects. He reminded the important contributions of the Laleli Tour with Foreign Tour Operators and the dinner organised in Taşhan to the sector. In the presentation, the ratios of the number of tourists coming to the Laleli region and staying in hotels according to the years were discussed.

Day 2 of the Search Conference started with Personal Development Expert Nur Hekimoğlu’s Body Language Training. In the presentation, which reminded the things to be considered for a healthy communication, tricks for the use of Body Language were given.
Underlining the importance and benefits of using it correctly, Nayman emphasised that it is important to express ourselves correctly first for a healthy communication.
On the third day of the Search Conference, Ali Çağatay, News Coordinator of Bloomberg HT Television, was on the stage. Making a general assessment of the global economic situation, Çağatay talked about the present and future of the Turkish economy in his presentation.
He touched upon the expectations for 2017 in Turkey and the world. Çağatay, who expressed the threats and opportunities in the economy, evaluated the relations between Turkey and the European Union and Turkish-Russian relations.
