Murat Şahsuvaroğlu, whose views were included in the statement made by the Automotive Authorized Dealers Association (OYDER), stated that the rapid recovery in the automotive industry started last month with normalization.
Şahsuvaroğlu stated that with the start of the normalization process in June, the automotive industry reached a level close to the sales average of the last 10 years.
Şahsuvaroğlu stated that, with confidence in the economy, public banks started to see the effects of extending the financing opportunity with 0.49 percent interest rate for new vehicles in June, and said, “The sales figures, which were 42 thousand 688 last year, reached 70 thousand 903 thousand in June this year. Automobile and “The light commercial market increased by 66.3 percent in June this year compared to last year. As OYDER, we have always maintained our views that the market will be better. These figures will increase further with our citizens’ confidence in the economy.” he said.
“Our sector will gradually regain the place it deserves”
Murat Şahsuvaroğlu stated that the implementation of the vehicle loan package by public banks and the provision of vehicle supply has stimulated the sector and said, “It has been seen that the continuation of the low-interest campaign on new vehicles is a very positive development for the sector. However, the availability problem that has been experienced for a while has been partially resolved. Turkey’s automobile and “The total light commercial vehicle market increased by 30.2 percent compared to the previous year in the January-June period of 2020, reaching 254 thousand 68 units. In light of the data, I estimate that we will close this year at the level of 700 thousand.” made his assessment.
Stating that the announcement of the first 6 months results gave a strong signal of recovery in the third quarter, Şahsuvaroğlu said:
“The automotive industry had a difficult year in 2019. Before the coronavirus (Covid-19), the automobile and light commercial market gave a very strong signal about the year by increasing by 90 percent in the first months of 2020. We predicted that we could recover the losses of 2019 in 2020 with the turbulence that started in the automotive industry in 2018. “Covid-19 was something we did not expect. However, we see that with the measures and supports taken during the normalization process, the automotive industry has become active again and the sales figures at the beginning of the year have started to be discussed again. Our industry will gradually come back to the place it deserves.
Especially since approximately 6 out of every 10 cars sold in Turkey are imported, markets in Europe will of course supply their own markets first, and they will supply vehicles to their own markets first. We will have a problem with availability for a few more months, but all the wheels of domestic production in Turkey are currently turning. Especially regarding supply, the entire automotive industry and the authorized dealership system do their best. “The June results have clearly demonstrated our efforts.”
