Europe, Canada, England, Japan and Switzerland have established an expert team on the use and mission of digital money through their central banks.
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and the world’s leading central banks have reportedly teamed up to assess the status of digital currencies.
In the statement made by the European Central Bank (ECB), it was stated that a team was formed to examine digital currencies, including experts from the Bank of Canada, the Bank of England, the Bank of Japan, the European Central Bank, the Riksbank and the Swiss National Bank and the Bank for International Settlements.
In the statement, it was emphasized that the members of the team have undertaken an important mission to examine digital money experiences in their own countries and share the findings, and it was stated that Bank of England (BoE) Deputy Governor Jon Cunliffe and Bank of International Settlements Innovation Center President Benoit Coeure will be co-chairs.
The Central Banks’ digital money team will evaluate the use cases of currencies and economic, functional and technical design options, including cross-border interoperability, while also sharing information about emerging technologies.
