As the calendars show the last week of winter, Meteorology has warned residents of Moscow and its surroundings against the coldest days of the year. The “coldest night” record of -18.8 degrees in the center on the night between Saturday and Sunday was renewed once again last night with -19.8 degrees. In the regions, -29.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Klin last night. For residents of the capital, “worse cold” is on the way today and tomorrow.
Accordingly, on February 26 and 27 (today and tomorrow) the capital will experience the coldest days and nights of the winter season.
The thermometer is expected to drop to -14 to -16 degrees Celsius during the day and -24 degrees Celsius in the center and -32 degrees Celsius in the oblast at night.
The frost is expected to ease towards the end of the week and snow is expected to return to Moscow.
Doctors warn not to take children under the age of 3 out if the thermometer drops below -15 degrees Celsius.
On Thursday, March 1, when the calendars show the first day of spring, -8 degrees during the day and -19 degrees at night are expected.
Meteorology does not expect “signs of spring” in Moscow before the end of March.
