Deposits of the banking sector increased

Total deposits of the banking sector increased by 27.2 billion lira last week, reaching 2 trillion 630.4 billion lira.

Weekly Money and Banking Statistics have been published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT).

Accordingly, total deposits in the banking sector (including interbank) increased by 27 billion 213 million 61 thousand liras in the week ending January 17, from 2 trillion 603 billion 166 million 497 thousand liras to 2 trillion 630 billion 379 million 558 thousand liras.

During this period, TL deposits in banks increased by 1.52 percent to 1 trillion 247 billion 597 million 624 thousand liras, and foreign currency (FX) deposits increased by 0.26 percent to 1 trillion 281 billion 483 million 636 thousand liras.

Total FX deposits in banks increased by 1 billion 43 million dollars last week, reaching 227 billion 219 million dollars.

While the amount of FX deposits of domestic residents was 197 billion 121 million dollars, 121 billion 949 million dollars of this was made up of deposits of domestic real persons and 75 billion 172 million dollars were deposits of domestic legal entities.

Installment commercial loans increased

Consumer loans in deposit banks increased by 0.26 percent in the one-week period, reaching 452 billion 715 million 744 thousand liras. Installment commercial loans increased by 0.11 percent and reached 376 billion 298 million 617 thousand liras. In the same period, credit card balance decreased by 1.14 percent to 149 billion 336 million 488 thousand liras.

Of the consumer loans in deposit banks, 186 billion 972 million 780 thousand lira consisted of housing, 4 billion 917 million 555 thousand lira from vehicle loans and 260 billion 825 million 409 thousand lira from other loans.

The total credit volume of the banking sector, including the CBRT, increased by 8 billion 162 million 151 thousand liras in the week ending January 17, reaching 2 trillion 560 billion 824 million 453 thousand liras.

Total loan volume increased by 11.53 percent compared to the same period last year.
