According to the “Electricity Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority for March, 40.4 percent of licensed electricity production is from hydroelectric power plants, 20.3 percent from imported coal, 12.5 percent from lignite, 10.4 percent from ü Made by natural gas power plants.
These sources were followed by wind, geothermal, biomass, asphaltite, hard coal, fuel oil and solar, respectively.
Thus, total licensed electricity production decreased by 0.7 percent in March compared to the same month of the previous year, falling to 23 million 828 thousand 262 megawatt hours.
Number of subscribers
The number of electricity subscribers increased by 2.8 percent in March compared to the same month last year, reaching 45 million 240 thousand 505.
During this period, the number of commercial consumers decreased by 1 percent and the number of lighting consumers decreased by 4.2 percent, while the number of industrial consumers increased by 20.4 percent, the number of residential consumers increased by 3.6 percent, and the number of agricultural irrigation consumers increased by 3.1 percent.
Billed consumption amount
The amount of invoiced electricity consumption decreased by 0.9 percent in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 18 million 452 thousand 687 megawatt hours.
45 percent of the electricity consumption billed in the month in question was made by industry, 26.1 percent by residential and 24.3 percent by commercial subscribers. It was observed that 2.4 percent of the remaining consumption came from lighting and 2.2 percent from agricultural irrigation.
Installed power
Turkey’s licensed electricity installed power increased by 1.8 percent in this period and reached 84 thousand 951 megawatts.
30.2 percent of the installed capacity consisted of natural gas cycle power plants, 24.3 percent consisted of dam hydrolelectric power plants, and 11.9 percent consisted of lignite power plants. The remaining part of the installed capacity was shared among facilities producing electricity from other energy sources.
