According to the provisional foreign trade statistics created by the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Commerce, Turkey’s total imports in February amounted to 17 billion 634 million dollars, an increase of 9.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
3 billion 136 million 51 thousand dollars of this amount consisted of “mineral fuels, mineral oils and products obtained from their distillation, bituminous substances, mineral waxes”, which are summarized as energy imports.
In February last year, this figure was recorded as 3 billion 388 million 145 thousand dollars. Thus, the country’s energy import bill decreased by 7.4 percent in the said period.
On the other hand, crude oil imports decreased by 0.7 percent in February compared to the same month last year, falling to 2 million 326 thousand 705 tons.
