In Suruç district of Şanlıurfa, farmers who were exempted from curfew restrictions in the fight against the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) continued their agricultural activities.
In the rural Bitkili neighborhood, farmers took to the fields with the first light of the day, plowed and irrigated the fields, and planted vegetable seedlings in the soil.
It was seen that the workers, who paid attention to the social distancing rule due to the coronavirus, worked wearing masks and gloves.
Salih Ay, one of the farmers, told AA correspondent that they welcomed the exclusion of agricultural workers from the scope of the lockdown.
Ay thanked the authorities and said that even a day is very valuable for farmers in this process.
Stating that they were on their way to the field with the first light of the day, Ay said, “It is a bread case, we are all working. We are exempt from curfew restrictions. We work as agricultural workers. We are forced to work because our crops remain in the field, if we don’t work, there is no bread. May God not harm our state.”
Farmer İbrahim Ay stated that they continue to produce and said, “We thank the authorities. Let us be of benefit to the nation and our state.”
