“On Monday, October 7th, Ercan Hardal, Vice President of the Board, and Sabri Akten, Board Member of LASİAD, visited prominent Turkish fashion designer Faruk Saraç at his office. They discussed the role of the Laleli District, which serves as the gateway of Turkish textiles to the world, in shaping Turkey’s fashion and brand image.
During the meeting, preparations for the “Laleli Fashion Shopping Festival” to be organized by LASİAD in 2014 were discussed. Faruk Saraç emphasized the significance of the Laleli district for Turkey, noting that LASİAD’s diligent efforts had elevated its importance to a different level. Saraç stated that Laleli serves as a gateway to the global market for many brands and designers, and he added that the upcoming festival would contribute significantly in this regard.
Faruk Saraç expressed his support for the Laleli Fashion Shopping Festival, which aims to bring together the cultures of countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Romania, fostering the development of Turkish textiles and fashion. He mentioned that he would provide support in various fields for the festival and emphasized that he is always behind such initiatives. Saraç also indicated the possibility of future collaboration between Faruk Saraç Design Vocational School, scheduled to open in 2014, and LASİAD. This collaboration could contribute to introducing young fashion designers who will shape the textile and fashion industry to Turkey and important regions like Laleli. Consequently, brands may not need to import designers from abroad.”
