The ‘Fatih District Security Meeting,’ organized by the Fatih District Governorship, took place on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at the Fatih Municipality Topkapi Social Facilities. The meeting was attended by Fatih District Governor Kaan Peker, Fatih Municipality Mayor M. Ergün Turan, District Police Chief Alparslan Atasoy, Provincial Migration Administration Director Recep Batu, neighborhood muhtars of the Fatih District, and representatives of NGOs operating in Fatih. LASİAD was represented by Secretary General Şerafettin Yüzüak and Board Member Mert Karaca.
During the meeting, issues related to crime, irregular migration, and immigrants were discussed. District Police Chief Alparslan Atasoy mentioned, ‘We have been actively involved in combating crimes such as theft, drug trafficking, and prostitution, and this year, the crime rates have decreased compared to the previous year. We expect the cooperation of our muhtars to further reduce crime rates and want them to be the third eye of the police.’ The second part of the meeting involved listening to the participants’ requests and complaints. Towards the end of the meeting, the necessity of taking collective action and intervention against crime was emphasized.
