The meeting between LASİAD and Fatih Municipality took place with a breakfast at the Wyndham Hotel on March 14th, Wednesday. The issues and solution suggestions for Laleli were discussed at the meeting attended by Fatih Mayor Mustafa Demir, Ak Party Fatih District Chairman Ahmet Hamdi Görk, Fatih Municipality Vice Mayors, Council Members, and Unit Managers. LASİAD President Giyasettin Eyyüpkoca, along with the board members, audit and discipline committee members, and numerous LASİAD members from Laleli companies also participated in the meeting.
LASİAD President Giyasettin Eyyüpkoca made the opening speech. Eyyüpkoca stated, ‘Our Mayor Mustafa Demir has always been with us throughout his 7-year presidency whenever we needed him. I consider myself very lucky. We, as a non-governmental organization and a local government, come together and discuss our activities. Local governments are either lucky or unlucky in the environment they are in. I consider myself very lucky for Laleli. I want to thank Mayor Mustafa Demir sincerely in front of all of you. ‘
Following Eyyüpkoca, Ak Party Fatih District Chairman Ahmet Hamdi Görk spoke, emphasizing LASİAD’s contributions to Laleli.
As the last speaker, Fatih Mayor Mustafa Demir said, ‘Trade has two important pillars. One is spice, the other is silk. The center of silk is Istanbul and Laleli. Throughout history, these places have always been important in terms of fashion, textile, and production. When we look back, this potential is the last stop and continuation of a tradition that has come for centuries. In this sense, Laleli is extremely important for us. The biggest share in bringing Laleli to this day undoubtedly belongs to LASİAD, which is well-organized and meticulous in the tasks it takes on. We could not undertake projects that we did with LASİAD, and which have no examples elsewhere, with another NGO.’
At the end of the program, various suggestions, wishes, and hopes were expressed by the participants, and questions were asked. Mayor Mustafa Demir and his team responded to the questions, stating that the problems would be resolved.
