Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hami Aksoy: “It has been confirmed once again that the ETIAS system will not be applied to our citizens holding service and special passports”
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hami Aksoy said, “As a result of the initiative made before the EU Commission, it has been confirmed once again that the ETIAS system will not be applied to our citizens holding service and special passports.” Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hami Aksoy responded to the question about the news published in the media that Turkish service and special passports will need to obtain approval within the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS). Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Aksoy said, “It has been seen that there have been reports in the media that Turkish service (gray) and special (green) passports will need to be pre-approved electronically within the framework of the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) before entering the Schengen area. In fact, the ETIAS system, which was adopted in 2018 and will be implemented as of 2022, was not applied to our citizens holding service and special passports, who have the right to enter the Schengen area without a visa, as a result of our initiatives before the EU authorities. Upon similar news appearing in the press again recently, as a result of the initiative made before the EU Commission, it has been confirmed once again that the ETIAS system will not be applied to our citizens holding service and special passports. In this context, it is necessary not to rely on the contrary news in the press recently.”
