Provisional foreign trade data for April, prepared in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Ministry of Commerce, has been announced.
Accordingly, within the scope of the General Trade System (GTS), exports decreased by 41.4 percent in April compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 8 billion 990 million dollars, while imports decreased by 25 percent, falling to 13 billion 553 million dollars.
Foreign trade deficit increased by 67 percent in April, reaching 4 billion 564 million dollars. The export-import coverage ratio decreased from 84.9 percent in April 2019 to 66.3 percent.
In the January-April period, exports decreased by 13.7 percent compared to the same period last year, falling to 51 billion 662 million dollars, while imports increased by 1 percent to 69 billion 205 million dollars.
Foreign trade deficit increased by 102.3 percent in the January-April period, reaching 17 billion 543 million dollars. While the export-import coverage ratio was 87.4 percent in January-April 2019, it decreased to 74.7 percent in the same period this year.
