Japan, China, Canada, Brazil, Brazil, Argentina and South Africa are the leading target countries.
Turkish Home Textile Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (TETSİAD) states that the sector will turn to new markets in 2016. The contraction in the markets, the Russian crisis and the problems in the Middle East have led home textile manufacturers to search for countries where they can create new markets. Continuing its activities in this context, TETSİAD initiated cooperation activities with Messe Frankfurt in various countries. The first of these will be the Interior Lifestyla Fair to be organized in Japan
The Turkish Home Textile Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (TETSİAD), the umbrella organization of the Turkish home textile sector, has examined the changes in the world economy and our nearby geography through global scans. First of all, 2015 data were tabled and the results were carefully monitored. The negative and positive developments identified as a result of these examinations were evaluated and new targets were set for 2016 and beyond.
TETSIAD has determined that the sector suffered a blood loss in 2015, especially in Russia and in our close neighbors, and it has a very positive outlook on the Iranian market. The contraction in the EU market, the instability in Russia and Ukraine, the tensions in Syria and Iraq that make it difficult to sell goods to the Middle East market, the problems in Egypt and Libya, and the negative effects of falling oil prices on the purchasing power in our existing markets all have a negative impact on the Turkish economy and lead home textile players to search for alternative markets. Based on this, home textile players aim to turn to countries with high purchasing power, which are net importers of home textiles and where our market share is below average. Japan, China, Canada, Brazil, Brazil, Argentina and South Africa are the leading target countries. The positive developments expected to take place in Iran make this country more attractive than ever.
Support for home textile manufacturers from the Ministry of Economy
Yaşar Küçükçalık, President of Turkish Home Textile Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (TETSİAD), said: “As TETSİAD, we continue our researches in different markets abroad in order for the sector to reach alternative markets more easily and to be less affected by the crises between countries. In this context, we are working to organize Turkey’s national participation in the Interior Lifestyle Fair to be held in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, in cooperation with Messe Frankfurt and İTKİB. The Ministry of Economy has approved the support for national participation in the fair, which will be held between June 1 – 3, 2016, in order to increase the share of the home textile sector in the Far East market and to create new markets in countries with high purchasing power. The Ministry of Economy provides 70% support for our fair to be held in Japan, which is the target market. Although the Japanese market seems to be very difficult and troublesome, the steps to be taken now will create an infrastructure for the future. The fact that more than forty companies have already responded positively to the announcement made for the fair confirms the accuracy of the market and the fair.”
