LASIAD Chairman Gıyasettin Eyyüpkoca, Vice Chairman Ahmet Turan, Board Member Mert Karaca and Secretary General Şerafettin Yüzüak visited IMM Deputy Secretary General for Transportation İbrahim Orhan Demir in his office on Monday, December 23rd.
During the meeting, the traffic and parking problems of the Laleli Region were discussed. Gıyasettin Eyyüpkoca stated the following: “Laleli is a region with excessive circulation. As a result of the overload caused by this circulation, both parking and the entry of private vehicles cause problems in the region, so 18 streets were closed to traffic in the past. In the past periods, in our joint work with both UKOME, IMM and Fatih Municipality, we stated that the application on Sundays should be applied to all days of the week, that the current situation creates problems and that the area should be pedestrianized to eliminate this problem.”
In the continuation of the meeting, Eyyüpkoca demanded the implementation of the pedestrianization project approved by UKOME. İbrahim Orhan Demir stated that they support pedestrianization regarding the project and thanked the LASIAD delegation for their visit.
It was agreed that the issue would be re-evaluated in the following days and a team from the IMM Transportation Coordination Directorate would re-examine the area.
