Import prices in the USA recorded the highest increase in 8 years

The US Department of Labor announced the import and export price indices for June.

Accordingly, the import price index in the country increased by 1.4 percent in June compared to the previous month.

The market expectation for the data, which showed the biggest monthly increase recorded since March 2012, was for a 1 percent increase in June. The index recorded an increase of 0.8 percent in May.

The import price index decreased by 3.8 percent in June compared to the same period last year.

The 21.9 percent increase in fuel prices was effective in the rise in the import price index during this period.

The increase in export price index exceeded expectations

The export price index in the USA increased by 1.4 percent on a monthly basis in June.

The market expectation for the data, which recorded its biggest increase since March 2011, was to increase by 0.8 percent this month. The index increased by 0.4 percent in May.

The export price index decreased by 4.4 percent in June compared to the same period last year.

In this period, the increase in the export price index was determined by the high export prices of non-agricultural products and agricultural products.
