It is our brotherhood that makes us who we are

Our country is struggling with a series of intense external crises, especially over the last five years. While we are fighting this fight together with our state, private sector, NGOs and nation, the incessant attacks never end. Aside from the negativities brought by the Pandemic that has turned global life upside down, the groups and circles that are disturbed by the developing and growing Turkey have now started to openly show their covert attacks. Especially recently, US President Joe Biden’s prejudiced and unfounded statements, devoid of history and law, have once again revealed this offensive attitude. The statements of such groups, who have no tolerance for a Turkey that takes a more active role in its region every day and has an independent and global say, will, as always, be nothing but nonsense on our behalf. Turkey, one of the rare countries at peace with its history, has the necessary data and documents to defend itself against such accusations. The fact that calls for the opening of the archives have gone unanswered for years is the most important evidence that these unfounded claims are unfounded. To accuse a state that was besieged under the harsh conditions and conditions of the First World War, whose lands were occupied and whose people were systematically massacred, of so-called genocide, which was undertaken to protect itself and its entire nation indiscriminately, with so-called genocide, even though all historical records and documents are clearly presented. It is injustice and negligence. In this regard, it is another sad situation that our neighbor Armenia and the diaspora are trying to gain advantage in domestic politics from the heads of Western states whose past and hands are covered with blood, exploitation and pus, and to put Turkey in trouble in foreign policy, as if they are trying to use a few words they can say.

Transforming our region into a basin of peace with the culture of coexistence and understanding of brotherhood spanning centuries is possible not with the rhetoric of Turkey’s enemies, but only with the countries of the region coming together and meeting and talking on the basis of humanity. Especially with the Pandemic process, it has been seen once again how important the solidarity and assistance of neighboring countries is in difficult times. There is brotherhood, unity, solidarity and respect in the spirit of these lands. The essence of these lands is to value people for who they are, regardless of religion, language, race or sect. In the heart of these lands is the blood of brave men who were able to challenge the seven worlds even in the most severe poverty. There is respect, love, compassion and tolerance in these lands. The people of these lands cannot be brought to their knees or subjugated through accusations, challenges and displays of power. It is possible to see this fact dozens, hundreds of times in the dusty pages of history. This nation will never sell its comrade, its friend with whom it shares a common destiny, and will never abandon it. In this critical historical period, it would be beneficial for the countries in the region to know this fact. It is time to meet on the axis of brotherhood and build the future together. Let’s remember the pain of the past, but let’s never allow these mutual pains to darken our future. Let’s not do this by giving simple opportunities to our enemies, whose colonial appetites have not been cured. This will not benefit anyone but anyone. Even though times and global forces change, we, as the children of this land, will always need each other and breathe this ancient climate at all times. It is clear that we need this unity of fate as much as bread and water.

As I conclude my words, I hope that Ramadan Feast will bring health, tranquility and peace to our country and the world, and I congratulate you on May 19, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day.
