“LASIAD Attends the ‘Magic Microphone Radio Awards’ by Invitation of the Mayor of Fatih”
LASIAD attended the third edition of the “Magic Microphone Radio Awards,” organized by the Fatih Municipality, as guests of Mayor Mustafa Demir.
The event, held on January 10, 2015, at Zorlu Center PSM, awarded the best radio, radio hosts, and radio programs of the year, which reached the finals through the votes of 2.3 million people. The awards ceremony featured 17 different categories, including “special” and “loyalty” awards presented to successful radio personalities. Among the attendees were Mayor Mustafa Demir, TRT General Manager Şenol Göka, LASIAD Board Members, including President Gıyasettin Eyyüpkoca, Vice President Muhammed Sancaktar, Vice President Ahmet Turan, and Board Members İhsan Bıyıkbeyi, İrfan Akbaş, Mehmet Özbayrak, Münir Dinler, as well as the General Secretary Şerafettin Yüzüak, External Relations Manager Halil Kılınç, Public Relations Manager Muharrem Ay, and President’s Private Secretary Nada İsmail.
Mayor Mustafa Demir, in his speech, emphasized the historical significance of radio and radio broadcasting. He highlighted the unique freedom that radio and radio broadcasting provide to people, stating that no other mass communication tool can offer this. Referring to the beginning of radio broadcasting in Turkey on May 6, 1927, in the basement of the Sirkeci Grand Post Office, currently within the borders of Fatih, Demir expressed the commitment of Fatih Municipality to support radio and radio broadcasters. He acknowledged the contribution of radio in touching lives, making traffic more bearable, and providing a mysterious voice that brings smiles to people’s faces and swiftly delivers current news. Demir concluded by expressing the municipality’s desire to honor and repay its debt of loyalty to all past and present radio broadcasters.
The award ceremony, hosted by Ceyhun Yılmaz, featured performances by Mustafa Ceceli, Bengü, Gökhan Türkmen, Emre Aydın, and Funda Arar. Attendees enjoyed a memorable night of celebration, where various successful radio programs and broadcasters were recognized. The ceremony also saw the participation of veteran radio personalities such as Sezen Cumhur Önal, İzzet Öz, and Orhan Ayhan, along with renowned figures like Işın Karaca, Burcu Güneş, Can Bonomo, Gökhan Tepe, Gripin, Betül Demir, Mustafa Topaloğlu, Ahmet Selçuk İlkan, Sibel Tüzün, Ayşe Tolga, Ertem Şener, and Ersin Düzen.
At the end of the night, Mustafa Ceceli and his orchestra, accompanied by Mayor Mustafa Demir, award-winning radio broadcasters, and other notable figures, paid tribute to the recently deceased Müzeyyen Senar by performing the song “Dalgalandım da Duruldum.”
