Markets started the week with rises in Asia

Global markets started the new week with rallies in Asian markets. While the increases in the Chinese and Hong Kong stock markets exceeded 4 percent, the MSCI index, which monitors the Asia-Pacific stock markets outside Japan, increased by over 2.5 percent, reaching the highest level since February.

Despite the record-breaking coronavirus cases every day in the American continent, especially in the USA, high liquidity and incentive packages in the markets support the increase in risk appetite. US futures, on the other hand, are up to 1.5 percent.

Borsa Istanbul started above 117 thousand points

The positive trend in Asian stock markets and US futures also had a positive impact on Borsa Istanbul. The index, which started the day at 117 thousand 384 points with a 1.41 percent increase, stabilized at 117 thousand 500 levels after the opening.

Dollar/TL has been 6.85 for 13 days

At the opening of the week, the dollar/TL exchange rate started at 6.85 for the 13th day in a row, while the euro/TL exchange rate appreciated just above 7.74. Domestically, 2-year fixed coupon and 7-year maturity variable interest bond auctions will be followed.

Record number of cases in the USA

In the first four days of July, new coronavirus cases increased to record levels in 15 US states. While the virus has infected 3 million people in the United States, it has killed 130 thousand people, according to Reuters calculations. Analysts state that 40 percent of the population did not benefit from the reopening of the economy.

Mixed trend in oil prices

Oil prices in international markets follow a mixed course on the first day of the new week. While the price of Brent oil increased with the support of the contraction in supply, the rapid increase in coronavirus cases in the USA caused the price of West Texas oil to decrease.

The barrel price of Brent oil is currently trading at $43.05, up 25 cents compared to Friday. US crude oil, on the other hand, is at $40.48, with a loss of 17 cents compared to its previous close, after falling to $40.20.
