Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak shared a video on his Twitter account, which includes the share of housing loans in total loans in Turkey, the ratio of housing loans and household liabilities to gross domestic product (GDP) and their comparison with other countries and unions.

Drawing attention to the low indebtedness rate of households in his message, Albayrak said, “The conscious behavior of our people and the low indebtedness rate of households distinguishes our country’s economy from other countries in a positive way. Our goal is to create a strong, solid Turkish economy by maintaining the increase in value-added production and exports along with the current gains.” made his assessment.

Türkiye left the USA and the EU behind

According to the information in the video, Turkey is ahead of many countries, including the UK, Italy, the USA and Sweden, with its low percentage of housing loans in total loans. In the ratio of housing loans to GDP, Turkey left behind the USA and the European Union with its performance of 5.2 percent this year.

In addition, the country’s 16 percent performance in the ratio of household liabilities to GDP in 2019 put Turkey ahead compared to Eurozone countries, where this ratio was 65 percent.
