Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu, in his speech at the General Directorate building of the institution on the occasion of the 164th anniversary of TCDD, stated that they aim to increase the capacity of TCDD in freight and passenger transportation.
Stating that TCDD will be one of the world’s important brands in freight and passenger transportation, Karaismailoğlu said, “We will be the most important passage of the New Silk Road, the logistics superpower of our region. We will realize all this with the experience, power and desire to succeed of TCDD.” he said.
Karaismailoğlu stated that on the 100th anniversary of the Republic, they will embrace the motto “We wove the homeland with iron nets from all over” with greater enthusiasm, and added:
“We will achieve much higher goals under the leadership of our President. We want to be Turkey’s most reliable transportation brand, to become the railway brand that carries the most passengers in Europe, and to provide high-speed train access to all major cities of our country. To be a leader in cargo, logistics and freight transportation, “We want to create Europe’s leading experience and culture-oriented tourism lines with express lines. Moreover, we will create the necessary structure to provide the best service to our citizens with our customer satisfaction practices.”
“We have served 53 million citizens on our YHT line since 2009”
Minister Karaismailoğlu pointed out that the growth rate in the field of railways had been paused since the 1940s.
Explaining that the railways were neglected due to deficiencies in vision and planning, Karaismailoğlu said, “Was this situation acceptable? Of course not. We have revitalized our railways since 2003. During our 18-year rule, we took our rails to every part of the country and realized a transportation revolution with our high-speed trains. “We have increased our capacity in passenger and freight transportation many times.” he said.
Stating that they started a second railway era in freight and passenger transportation in line with the national transportation and infrastructure policy, Karaismailoğlu said that they are preparing rehabilitation projects of unused lines all over Turkey.
Pointing out that they crossed the Bosphorus with rails and connected Asia and Europe by rail, Karaismailoğlu made the following evaluation:
“We have drawn the road map of the future with our logistics projects integrated with all modes of transportation. With our railway investment of 162.6 billion lira since 2003, we will increase our line length from 10 thousand 959 kilometers to 13 thousand 836 kilometers. We also introduced our country to high-speed train. As of 2020, 1,000 “We have served 53 million citizens since 2009 on our YHT line, which has reached 246 kilometers.”
