Minister Karaismailoğlu: We will issue the Micro Mobility Regulation as soon as possible.”

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that the regulations for individual transportation vehicles such as e-scooters, e-bikes and motor scooters will be prepared soon, and said, “We will issue the Micro Mobility Regulation as soon as possible, after taking the opinions of all stakeholders.” said.

Karaismailoğlu touched upon the importance of micro mobility vehicles in the future of transportation in his speech at the “Bicycle Transportation Idea and Project Competition Award Ceremony” organized by the Union of Municipalities of Turkey (TBB) at the Wyndham Hotel.

Stating that, as the Ministry, meetings were held with representatives of the sector, universities, public and private sector organizations on the subject of e-scooters, Karaismailoğlu said, “We last held the Micro Mobility Systems Common Mind Meeting in Istanbul on September 11. Karaismailoğlu said that the Ministry’s approach to all transportation lines includes issues such as reducing travel times, increasing traffic safety and mobility, efficient use of road capacity and energy, and reducing damage to the environment.

Emphasis on smart transportation system

Karaismailoğlu stated that the demand for transportation will double in terms of the number of passengers and distance in the 2020-2050 period and said:

“In parallel with the increasing population in the world and in our country, urban and intercity transportation and communication traffic has been increasing exponentially in recent years. In order to meet and manage this density in transportation, we need to create an efficient, safe, innovative, dynamic, environmentally friendly and sustainable environment supported by local and national information and communication facilities. “The smart transportation system has become one of the most important requirements.”

Karaismailoğlu stated that for this purpose, they prepared the “National Intelligent Transportation Systems Strategy Document and 2020-2023 Action Plan” under the coordination of the Ministry with the participation of all stakeholders and made the following statements:

“One of our strategic goals within the scope of our action plan is to create a livable environment and a conscious society and, accordingly, to support the widespread use of micromobility vehicles. The general coordination of the plan, which is prepared in cooperation with the ministries of Environment and Urbanization, Health and Youth and Sports, under the responsibility of metropolitan municipalities, is also carried out by our Ministry. is being carried out.”

Stating that they have carried out a comprehensive transportation and infrastructure move for the last 18 years, Karaismailoğlu said that they have brought mega projects to Turkey and that they have connected every point of the country with each other and with the world.

Explaining that the investments continue with a contemporary vision to support the country’s big goals and create solid foundations for holistic development, Karaismailoğlu said, “As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we prioritize smart and environmentally friendly solutions as well as safety and comfort in all our transportation investments.” said.

Touching on the features of the Ankara-Niğde Highway, the 1st and 3rd sections of which have been completed and put into service, Karaismailoğlu said:

“Ankara-Niğde Highway is Turkey’s smartest road with domestic and national infrastructure, with fiber optic lines, traffic sensors, meteorology measurement stations, event detection cameras, smart transportation management unit and main control systems. In this way, a high level of driving safety is ensured on our highway , the risk of accidents has been reduced to a minimum. While saving distance and time, environmental awareness has been prioritized. When our entire road is put into operation, we will consume an average of 127 million 550 thousand liters less fuel annually. 318 million 240 thousand kilograms less carbon dioxide will be released into the environment. With less carbon dioxide released into the environment “We will have cleaner air and 19 million liras of resources will remain in the pockets of our citizens.”
