“As of 2019, the e-commerce volume in our country was 136 billion lira, while 85 percent of this was from domestic expenditures.
In e-commerce, airlines took the first place with 15.3 billion liras, clothing-shoes with 13.8 billion liras, white goods and home appliances with 13.3 billion liras. While the average basket amount of orders in total e-commerce was 99.5 lira, this figure was 183 lira for card payments and 50 lira for payment at the door.
In the first 5 months of the year, during the Covid-19 period, e-commerce volume increased by 48 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 63.3 billion TL. “In the period covering the Covid-19 process, food-supermarket expenditures through e-commerce increased more than 6 times, and chemicals increased 2.5 times, compared to last year.”
