Minister of Commerce Ruhsar Pekcan, in her speech at the World Customs Day Event and Award Ceremony held at the Ministry of Commerce, said that this year’s day theme is “Customs in the Sustainability of Human Beings, Welfare and Our Planet”.
Stating that, as the Ministry, they continue to work to support legal trade and prevent illegal trade and smuggling, Pekcan stated that they also work to prevent the spread of diseases in terms of plant and animal health in the world and to prevent the trade of living creatures whose species are decreasing.
Pekcan thanked the Ministry staff for their devoted work and said, “We have taken very important steps regarding digitalization and the fight against smuggling at customs. We will continue to increase these efforts. With the Customs Guide, we explained our citizens their rights at customs in a simple language. These efforts were highly appreciated by the citizens. 1.5 “We achieved the impossible in customs in one year.” he said.
Modernization of customs gates
Drawing attention to the modernization works at customs gates, Pekcan said:
“Last year, we renewed and commissioned our Kapıköy and Sarp gates. Our renovation works continue in Kapıkule, İpsala and Hamzabey. We hope to complete them this year. We also commissioned Zeytindalı. Our friends are working devotedly in our prefabricated building there. We also want to improve the working conditions of our staff. “We are working with all our strength for the construction of our Habur Border Gate. It is expected to be completed at the end of 2021, but I want it to be completed at the end of 2020.”
Emphasizing that the mission of the Ministry is to facilitate legal trade and prevent illegal trade, Pekcan stated that they will continue their work within the framework of the vision of carrying out trade in an easy, fast and reliable way.
