According to the written statement made by the Ministry, within the scope of the “Economic Stability Shield” package, which was shared with the public by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and activated a resource of 100 billion liras to reduce the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic, coordinated efforts are being carried out in the public sector to support the real sector.
The Ministry of Industry and Technology, which started a new study against the Covid-19 epidemic that shook the world, launched a 3-pronged plan through the relevant organization KOSGEB.
“Support up to 6 million lira”
Sharing the details of the plan, Varank said, “We are postponing KOSGEB receivables for 3 months. We will also give an additional period of 4 months to KOSGEB projects. We will provide additional support for the production of preventive health products.” he said.
Minister Varank said, “Our businesses that produce products such as disinfectants, protective clothing, protective glasses, masks and gloves with domestic resources will be able to benefit from KOSGEB’s TEKNOYATIRIM Support Program. They will be able to benefit from this program until it is announced by the official authorities that the risk of the epidemic has disappeared.” made his assessment.
Stating that the businesses will prepare their projects related to these products, Varank said, “We will support these projects up to 6 million liras. 4 million 200 thousand liras of this will be refundable.” shared his knowledge.
“We met with the manufacturers”
Stating that they are closely monitoring all developments in the markets, Varank said:
“After Covid-19 spread all over the world, there was naturally a demand for the products we added to the list. We contacted manufacturers, that is, businesses and SMEs, to meet the demand. We will contribute to meeting the increasing demand for these products with the support we will provide. Unfortunately, we will also prevent speculations created by some opportunists. We will pass.”
Minister Varank also stated that they have started to receive applications and said, “In this period when we are going through an extraordinary process, KOSGEB boards will make decisions faster than normal and determine the projects to be supported in a short time. Payments will also be made urgently.” made his assessment.
“The maturity number will not change”
Emphasizing that another leg of the package is the postponement of KOSGEB receivables, Varank said, “Within the scope of the refundable support provided by KOSGEB, we postponed their receivables until June 30, 2020. We postponed the payments of SMEs in this situation to KOSGEB by 30 June 2020 by 3 months.” .” he said.
Varank underlined that all installments to be repaid by businesses have been postponed and said, “The maturity number will not change. No legal interest will be charged. Our SMEs, who previously benefited from the postponement decisions of KOSGEB receivables, will also be able to benefit from this decision.” made his assessment.
“Projects will not be interrupted”
Noting that KOSGEB offers project-based support through various programs and also supports entrepreneurs, Varank said:
“We will give an additional time of up to 4 months to businesses that must fulfill their project duration obligations or entrepreneurship program obligations on or after March 11, 2020. Thus, the projects will not be interrupted.”
Varank stated that businesses should request additional time and said, “We have accelerated the decision process, and we will immediately provide an extension of time to our SMEs who request it, without the need for a new board decision.” he said.
“We will use all the instruments”
Emphasizing that this right can be used until the statement from the official authorities that the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic have disappeared, Varank made the following evaluations:
“We are one of the first countries to react against the risk of the Covid-19 epidemic. As the Ministry, we started to discuss the measures we will take while the virus is on the borders of China. Our businesses are, of course, affected by this epidemic that is rapidly spreading around the world. We know what needs to be done to protect our SMEs, and we have started to implement them. This “We will continue to use all the instruments at our disposal to ensure continuity in production after the effects of this epidemic are eliminated in the process and in the world.”
“Common sense”
Minister Varank touched upon the importance of citizens taking official statements into account and said:
“The best precaution we can all take is to protect ourselves. For this reason, let’s not leave our homes unless it is necessary or necessary. Let’s maintain social distance. Let’s not pay attention to speculative statements, especially on social media. It is obvious that we will easily overcome all kinds of obstacles when we act with common sense, let’s keep this belief alive.”
