Minister Varank: We will support 188 projects carried out by 47 universities with 147 industrial enterprises

Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank said at the Technology Development Zones Coordination Meeting, which he attended via video conference, that they have taken historic steps in the fields of employment, access to finance and social protection.

Stating that they are careful to protect the entrepreneurial ecosystem, Varank explained the work they did in technoparks and R&D design centers during the pandemic period.

Varank stated that they touched the lives of 59 thousand employees in 84 technoparks and emphasized that the necessary precautions should be taken and continued in the process of entering the new normal.

Reminding that they prepared a guide with the Turkish Standards Institute, Varank said, “We issue ‘Covid-19 Safe Production Quality Certificate’ to the companies that comply with the measures. We received applications from 76 industrial organizations in two weeks. The audits of 7 organizations were completed positively and they were entitled to receive the certificate. Our Technopark management companies also “We expect you to comply with the instructions in the guide and apply for the document. There is no need for your companies to apply separately, you can apply as a legal entity. This document will provide an advantage to our companies in domestic and foreign markets.” made his assessment.

Varank underlined that the driving force of growth and development is young entrepreneurs and innovative startups, and said that as long as the added value in production is increased, competitiveness is gained.

Stating that the way to achieve this is through innovative ideas and production processes that foster efficiency, Varank said, “During our 18-year rule, we built the enterprise ecosystem from scratch with this awareness. We followed a holistic approach throughout the process and brought a total ecosystem to our country. The support and exemptions we provide with Technopark and R&D laws.” “The opportunities we offer through KOSGEB and TÜBİTAK are the basic elements of our holistic approach.” said.

Emphasis on incubation centers

Varank talked about the documents and supports given to the private sector and technoparks and stated that they have transferred a resource of 1 billion 200 million liras as grants to technoparks so far.

Underlining that they attach special importance to incubation companies and see the future of Turkey in these initiatives, Varank said:

“Currently, 24 percent of the 6 thousand companies in technoparks are incubation companies. It is very important that this number increases and more ideas are fleshed out. For this, you should make incubation companies the focus of your activities. You should stand by these initiatives in the process we call the valley of death. These should not consist of four-walled offices. The key to success in this period is to be able to quickly integrate competencies into the economy. Those who see the gap in the market or seek to create a new market from scratch transform the system. Not those who watch or follow, but those who make a difference and think originally, shape the future. That is why incubation centers are indispensable “The services you offer them in areas such as law, accounting, business development, commercialization and intellectual property are extremely critical.”

Pointing out that more incubation centers should be established and more incubation entrepreneurs should be supported, Varank said, “Implement mechanisms that will inspire young enterprises, increase their motivation and keep their enthusiasm alive. As the Ministry, we are open to all kinds of new ideas, we are with you.”

Varank stated that the technology transfer offices within the technopark will be able to benefit from TUBITAK supports in the future and explained their work in this field.

Stating that technoparks, which are the center of reverse brain drain, should be an example with both their buildings and the services they offer, Varank said, “Please do not bring hastily prepared makeshift prefabricated structures in front of us as areas of activity. We see these as abuse and we will do what is necessary.” said.

“The results of the Industry-Doctorate Program have been announced”

Minister Varank stated that the basis of all this support and effort is the goal of achieving the breakthrough that the country needs, and said, “Turkey has the potential for a serious leap in technology-based businesses. We want our qualified human resources to focus on the most productive and high value-added jobs and to use their intellectual capital for the future of our country.” ” he said.

Varank stated that technoparks are an indispensable part of the National Technology Move and emphasized that Teknopark Istanbul and Ankara İvedik Technopark make unique contributions to the defense industry attaining a local and national structure.

Stating that the pharmaceutical tracking system developed in Gazi Technopark has found a place in the global market, Varank talked about the success of the companies in the technoparks.

Underlining that there will be many success stories from Turkey, Varank said that they draw strength and energy from the dynamism of young people.

Stating that the results of the Industry-Doctorate Program, which aims to integrate highly qualified workforce into the industry, are clear today, Varank said:

“We will support 188 projects carried out by 47 universities with 147 industrial enterprises. In line with the needs of our industry, 645 dollars

ktora students will be trained. We provide 4 thousand 500 lira monthly scholarship support to these students throughout their education. We also offer employment support for 3 years following graduation. We launched the program for the first time last year. We received very constructive feedback from the industry. This year, the number of universities, companies and students increased compared to last year. Our Technopark companies can also benefit from the program. “The program will play a critical role in the structural transformation in the industry with the visionary approach it brings.”

Minister Varank stated that all the infrastructures they have established and the support they offer are to activate the entrepreneurial spirit of young people, and stated that they will follow and implement the steps that will take the entrepreneurship ecosystem further.
