Ministry of Health identifies Covid-19 measures in banks

In line with the recommendations of the Coronavirus Scientific Committee during the normalization process after the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, the Ministry of Health prepared a guide titled “Prevention and Control Measures in Bank Branches”.

The guide emphasized that routine cleaning of floors and other surfaces in closed areas with water and detergent is sufficient, and that bleach or chlorine tablets diluted at a ratio of one-tenth should be used for cleaning surfaces frequently touched by hands, door handles, batteries, buttons, telephone handset, toilets and sinks in common areas, and pointed out the importance of hand cleaning.

According to the guide, only a single person wearing a medical mask should use the numerators in banks and they should be cleaned properly in the morning and evening.

Staff with any signs of respiratory infection such as fever, cough, respiratory distress will not be employed until their symptoms improve.

Employees who are in constant face-to-face contact with people in the branch with a distance of 1 meter or less will wear medical masks.

Alcohol-containing hand antiseptics will be kept at accessible points to ensure hand hygiene.

Customers will not be seated in close proximity in the waiting area inside the bank. There will be at most as many customers in the waiting area as there are transaction counters. There will be at least one meter distance between customers and other customers and the bank employee working at the counter. Some non-urgent transactions will be postponed to reduce the number of customers in the bank branch.

In the guide, which emphasized that employees should be trained to pay attention to hand hygiene, it was recommended that a person with any viral respiratory tract infection cover his nose and mouth with a disposable tissue paper during coughing or sneezing, use the inside of the elbow in the absence of a tissue paper, if possible, not to enter crowded places, if he has to enter, cover his mouth and nose, and if possible, use a surgical mask.

Recommendations for security guards

The Ministry has also prepared a guide for “Recommendations for Security Officers Working in Places such as Banks, PTT, Quarantine Centers”.

Accordingly, in places such as banks, PTT and quarantine centers, glass booths will be installed if possible to reduce the possibility of face-to-face contact between security guards. If there is no such possibility, arrangements will be made to ensure a distance of at least 1 meter between those entering the institution and security guards. If it is necessary to stay away from one meter, only the use of a mask will be sufficient.

Security guards will use personal protective equipment, including masks, goggles and face shields, during body searches. If there is no possibility of visible contamination with body secretions, gloves will not be used, but hand hygiene will be ensured. This equipment will be used without interruption while on duty.

If the employee leaves the workplace for meal and tea breaks, the equipment will be removed and properly disposed of in the household waste bin. New personal protective equipment will be used when returning to active work at the workplace.

Masks will be replaced as they become damp and dirty. Employees will be trained on the appropriate use of personal protective equipment.

Proper hand hygiene will be ensured by washing with soap and water or rubbing with alcohol-based hand antiseptic for at least 20 seconds each time after donning and doffing personal protective equipment.

Alcohol-based hand antiseptic will be available in easily accessible places. The materials used will not be reused after removal.
