New academic year starts with distance education

The distance education initiated by the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) will continue until Friday, September 18, and it is planned to switch to face-to-face education in a “phased and diluted” manner on September 21.

Due to the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, the beginning of classes in the new academic year, which will be conducted remotely due to the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, was held at 09.00 in the morning with the reading of the National Anthem and the ringing of the class bell.

In the 2019-2020 academic year, distance education will be conducted with a program that prioritizes the strengthening of key skills that cannot be taught face-to-face and that may affect students’ readiness for the next grade.

Course content videos on critical topics and achievements of the courses of the second semester of the last academic year will be broadcast on TRT EBA Primary School TV, TRT EBA Middle School TV and TRT EBA High School TV channels. These lessons aim to strengthen students’ readiness levels and help them overcome their deficiencies as they start the new academic year.

Activity examples prepared for live lessons

With the infrastructure to be offered through EBA, live lesson applications can be realized by all teachers through other open source platforms and platforms created by private schools. Through the EBA live lesson application, teachers will be able to conduct live lessons with students every day.

In addition to this application, teachers will be able to conduct live lessons with online applications of their choice.

Students will be able to improve their academic and social skills by downloading the applications prepared to improve their reading, comprehension and math skills.

EBA Support Points were created

EBA Support Point areas were created in schools and institutions to ensure that students who do not have computers and internet access at home have access to EBA during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Trainings were planned for teachers to improve their digital skills during the preparatory training period between August 31 and September 21.

In order for teachers to be prepared for the opening of schools on September 21, adaptation trainings will be provided both to inform them about hygiene rules and to provide psychosocial guidance to students.

Parent guidance in distance education

The Ministry of National Education will organize parent guidance trainings and support the guidance process with videos, guides and brochures so that parents can better monitor their children’s distance education process and better guide their children.

Psychosocial support will continue to be provided to parents and students during this process through the “From Us” parent generation on TRT EBA channels and MoNE’s support lines.

Information on the Ministry’s distance education activities can be accessed at “www.uzaktanegitim.meb.gov.tr” and “www.eba.gov.tr”.

Students will continue to be supported throughout the year through EBA, EBA TV and support and training courses in order to fulfill their missing subjects and achievements.

Face-to-face education is planned to start on September 21 with “phased and diluted applications”.
