Antalya, which stands out with its ancient cities, historical buildings and natural beauty as well as its sea, sand and sun, hosts tourists from many countries.
In the city, which is among the world’s important tourism destinations, tourism mobility started in July.
In Antalya, where safe and healthy tourism services are provided within the scope of the “Safe Tourism Certification Program” launched during the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic process under the coordination of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, tourist density increased especially in August and September.
Antalya, the “capital of tourism”, received 1 million 883 thousand 903 foreign tourists between January 1 and September 10. Russia is the main market in the first place, Ukraine in the second place and Germany in the third place.
“There was intense tourist traffic to Antalya from some countries”
Cem Kınay, a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Tourism and Development Agency, told AA correspondent that despite being at zero point a few months ago, the mobility in tourism is important.
Emphasizing that the certificate program and healthy tourism campaign is an important feature that distinguishes Turkey from other countries, Kınay said:
“Healthy tourism has been an important factor in opening up traffic between Russia and Turkey, Germany and Turkey and the UK. It is obvious that people are longing for a vacation because of staying at home for months. There was heavy traffic to Antalya, especially from countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Germany, England, Poland. Our hotels were open and prepared. They are doing their best to comply with the certification programs. I expect this mobility in tourism to continue in the coming months, and even the summer season will extend into November and December.”
Pointing out that Turkey’s slogan is “a country with 12 months, 4 seasons and 365 days of tourism”, Kınay said that Antalya in particular can be easily visited 12 months a year.
Stating that football and golf teams will be more important for Antalya in winter this year, Kınay said, “The number of tourists coming to Turkey has exceeded 10 million. The number of arrivals in Antalya is close to 2 million. These are important during the pandemic period. We expect 15 million tourists to Turkey this year. ” he said.
