Ordu Street in Laleli is closed to traffic

Ordu Street and surrounding streets of Laleli, one of the important districts of Istanbul’s Historical Peninsula, were closed to traffic. Shopkeepers expressed their satisfaction with pedestrianization.

Ordu Street and surrounding streets in the Laleli district, which is an important center of attraction in Fatih and hosts many tourists from many countries of the world every day, were closed to traffic except official, logistics and tourist vehicles between 10.00 and 21.00. According to this; Those who have workplaces and operators on the pedestrianized streets will be able to carry out loading, unloading and other operations only between 21.00 at night and 10.00 in the morning. With the decision implemented yesterday, citizens working as tradesmen on the streets stated that they were satisfied with the situation.

“THERE IS NO FIGHT OR NOISE BECAUSE THERE ARE NO VEHICLES”

Tamer Kanar, manager of the hotel operating in the region, said, “The decision taken was also good for us. Since there are no vehicles, there are no fights or noise. All companies’ license plates are registered. They can enter by presenting their license plate. Identified tradesmen’s vehicles can also enter during the day. Only foreign vehicles cannot enter. “It was also good for tourists. People can walk without bumping into each other. Everyone is satisfied,” he said.

“Both TOURISTS AND TRADESMEN ARE VERY SATISFIED”

Clothing store manager Yusuf Erdal said, “Tourists can wander around freely. When there are vehicles, it becomes crowded. Customers cannot cross the street. They become uncomfortable. Both the tourists and the shopkeepers are very happy. They allow the shopkeepers to enter. We do our job and leave.”
