Ordu Street and surrounding streets in the Laleli district, which is an important center of attraction in Fatih and hosts many tourists from many countries of the world every day, were closed to traffic except official, logistics and tourist vehicles between 10.00 and 21.00. According to this; Those who have workplaces and operators on the pedestrianized streets will be able to carry out loading, unloading and other operations only between 21.00 at night and 10.00 in the morning. “Ordu Street and Surroundings Pedestrianization and Traffic Circulation Project” was implemented with the decision of UKOME.
WE WANT TO CARRY TRADE IN LALELİ ONE STEP FORWARD”
Making a statement on the subject, Fatih Mayor M. Ergün Turan said, “There have been various closure decisions in the region of Fatih, where trade and tourism are dominant, since the past years. More than 80 streets of Laleli cannot be entered due to closure orders at certain times of the day. With the decisions taken in 2016, there was an issue of closing Ordu Street to traffic in the lower and upper Laleli regions. We have implemented this decision. This decision eliminated the chaos brought by trade and tourism in this region. This decision has been expected to be implemented for years. Infrastructure works were carried out. Barrier and license plate recognition systems have been completed. Approximately 40 police officers serve in the region. Almost all of our tradesmen, tourists, merchants and citizens who come for trade purposes are satisfied with this situation. This decision is one of the important decisions taken recently in Istanbul. “We want to take the trade in Laleli one step forward,” he said.
