Oruç Reis’s seismic work in the area will continue until August 27th, as announced in a new Navtex (Maritime Safety Information) notice.
The notice had previously been announced for August 23rd, but the mission duration has now been extended by 4 days with the new notice.
Accordingly, Oruç Reis, along with the ships Ataman and Cengiz Han, will conduct seismic surveys in the region previously announced in the Eastern Mediterranean, off the coast of Cyprus.
Oruç Reis seismic research vessel is capable of conducting all kinds of geological, geophysical, hydrographic, and oceanographic research, primarily for continental shelf and natural resource exploration.
As one of the fully equipped and versatile research vessels in the world, the ship is capable of conducting 2D and 3D seismic, gravity, and magnetic geophysical research. The vessel can perform 3D seismic operations up to a depth of 8,000 meters and 2D seismic operations up to a depth of 15,000 meters.
