Increasing use of air conditioning and agricultural irrigation in parallel with the rise in air temperatures across the country has led to peak values in electricity consumption.
According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent from Turkey Electricity Transmission Inc. data, the highest hourly electricity consumption yesterday was at 17.00 with 43 thousand 387 megawatt hours, and the lowest consumption was at 07.00 with 28 thousand 965 megawatt hours.
The highest electricity consumption level of the year was recorded in Turkey on a daily basis yesterday with 908 thousand 395 megawatt hours. On the same day, the highest electricity production of the year was reached in the country with 905 thousand 726 megawatt hours.
24 percent of the production in question was met by natural gas, 22 percent by dam hydroelectricity and 21 percent by imported coal power plants, and the remaining part was met by other sources.
