The Russian Federal Information Technologies and Mass Communication Supervision Agency announced that the social media site Twitter could be completely blocked within a month.

Vadim Subbotin, Deputy Chairman of the Mass Communications Supervision Agency (Roskomnadzor), said in a statement to the Russian news agency TASS that Twitter, whose speed has been slowed down in Russia, will be examined for a month to remove “banned content”.
Stating that the necessary decision will be taken regarding Twitter at the end of the said period, Subbotin said, “If it does not fulfill the requirements of Russian legislation, we will discuss the issue of completely blocking Twitter in Russia. “If they fulfill the requirements, we will lift the current sanctions.” said.
With the decision taken on March 10, Roskomnadzor slowed down the speed of Twitter by 50 percent on mobile devices on the grounds that content encouraging suicide, obscene and drug use was not removed.
