According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent from the second-hand online market report prepared by the Automotive Distributors Association (ODD) based on INDICATA data, a total of 127 thousand 252 units were sold in the Turkish second-hand online automobile and light commercial vehicle market in April.
Of these, 103 thousand 149 were passenger vehicles and 24 thousand 103 were light commercial vehicles. The share of passenger cars in sales was determined as 81 percent, and the share of light commercial vehicles was 19 percent.
There was a decrease of 11 percent in sales compared to the same period last year and 17 percent compared to the previous month.
In the first four months of 2020 (January-April), the second-hand online passenger car and light commercial market increased by 3 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 581 thousand 879 units. Last year, in the same period, 565 thousand 815 units were sold.
Decrease in the rate of vehicles advertised and sold
In April, 177 thousand 589 vehicles were advertised in Turkey’s second-hand online passenger and light commercial market. Accordingly, 72 percent of the advertised vehicles were sold.
There was a 21 percent decrease in the ratio of advertised and sold vehicles (considering vehicles that were completely removed from the advertisement to be sold) compared to last month, and a 12 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.
When considered on a segment basis, the C segment vehicle was the most sold in the second-hand online market in April, with a 42.7 percent share and 43 thousand 999 units. Then, B segment vehicles with a 23.2 percent share, 23 thousand 975 units, and D segment vehicles with a 18.4 percent share, 18 thousand 972 units were listed.
Compared to last month, the share of segment C increased by 0.7 percent and the share of segment F increased by 0.5 percent.
While 8 thousand 114 vehicles were sold in the E and F segments, which represent the luxury class, the share of the segment in total sales was 7.09.
Prices increased by 2.5 percent in April
Despite the decrease in vehicle sales, the increase in prices attracted attention.
When the price trend tables in April are examined, regardless of segment, there was a 2.5 percent increase in vehicle prices in the second-hand online market compared to March.
There was an average increase of 14.8 percent in vehicle prices in the second-hand online market compared to December last year.
40.7 percent of sales were made up of vehicles 10 years old and over.
When sales are evaluated according to the age of the vehicles, 17-year-old vehicles had the highest share with 13.1 percent in the second-hand online market in April. Then, 5-year-old vehicles were listed with 11 percent and 6-year-old vehicles with 9.3 percent.
It was noteworthy that 24.7 percent of the vehicles sold in the second-hand online market in April were 3, 4 and 5-year-old vehicles, and 40.7 percent were 10-year-old and older vehicles. The rate of vehicles in this age group increased by 8.7 points in April.
