At the opening, the BIST 100 index gained 8.47 points and 0.01 percent, rising to 98,579.92 points.
The banking index decreased by 0.03 percent, while the holding index increased by 0.21 percent. Among the sector indices, the main metal industry gained the most with 0.64 percent, and the food and beverage industry lost the most with 0.54 percent.
In Borsa Istanbul, which had a limited sell-off period yesterday, the BIST 100 index completed the day at 98,571.46 points, with a decrease of 0.17 percent.
Analysts reported that the news flow regarding the new type of coronavirus epidemic and the macroeconomic data to be announced will be followed today after the Bank of England does not change interest rates in line with expectations.
Stating that the weekly unemployment applications to be announced today before the April employment report to be published in the USA tomorrow are in the focus of investors, analysts noted that technically, the 97,200 level in the BIST 100 index is support and 100,000 points is resistance.
