In his evaluation of June export figures to the AA correspondent, President of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), İsmail Gülle said that after the declines in March, April and May, which were affected by the pandemic process, Turkey’s exports increased by 13 percent in June, with a very serious increase of 15.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. He said it amounted to .5 billion dollars.
Gülle underlined that the June export figures were extremely successful and stated that they were very pleased that exports recovered again and exceeded the previous year’s June figure during the new type of coronavirus period, when the whole world was affected.
Stating that June’s export figures emerged with the serious efforts of exporters, Gülle stated that June’s exports increased by 35 percent after May’s exports.
Gülle pointed out that the export-import coverage ratio has also increased above last year and that the export-import coverage ratio, which was 75 percent last year, has increased to 82 percent and said, “This is also extremely important. Both the measures taken on imports and the performance of exports are extremely important in this regard. “We are extremely pleased that imports have decreased and the increase potential of our exports has increased.” he said.
Reminding that exports to European Union countries were also seriously affected during the pandemic period, Gülle underlined that exports to almost every European Union country, which were negative in May, turned positive as of June.
Gülle pointed out that exports to England increased by nearly 50 percent and said, “Our biggest markets are Germany, England and the USA, we see increases in all of them. European Union countries are our most important commercial partners. The region to which we make the biggest exports. Therefore, the performance of our exports here is an extremely important indicator for us. We export approximately 48 percent of our exports to EU countries. “We have shown a positive performance here, except for a few countries such as the Netherlands and Italy.” made his assessment.
24 of 27 sectors increased their exports
Stating that there are 27 sectors in exports and the exports of 24 of them increased, İsmail Gülle said, “The automotive sector is in a limited decline here. We see that our mining and defense industry sectors are affected. In May, the increases in these sectors were in red, but as of June, we see that, except for a few sectors, all of them turned green and increased.” he commented.
Gülle stated that automotive export performance is very important for them and said:
“We are very pleased with this short-term recovery in automotive exports, which is our biggest export item. We can say that it will reach higher figures with additional performance from our automotive industry, assuming that it will reach its previous figures in the following months and that the supply system will also be affected in the world after China. Our steel industry is one of the few sectors where we expect a significant performance. Our chemical and ready-made clothing sectors were also among the sectors affected during the epidemic period. “I have to say that these recovered with an extremely successful performance in June.”
Noting that the country has shown a very successful management in the management of the Covid-19 process, TİM President Gülle said, “Especially the management of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the support he has given to production and exports, and the announced financing packages are extremely important. It was important that we go through the pandemic period that shook the world with the least damage. As the export family, we would like to thank our President, all our ministers, but especially the Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak and the Minister of Trade Ruhsar Pekcan. They gave us great support during this period. We had frequent meetings. “They were very useful in solving the problems conveyed by exporters.” made his assessment.
