According to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), the automotive industry exported 2 billion 402 million 323 thousand dollars last month. Thus, the automotive industry became the sector with the most exports in January.
The automotive industry was followed by chemicals and products with 1 billion 700 million 258 thousand dollars, and ready-made clothing and apparel with 1 billion 495 million 475 thousand dollars.
The highest export increase in January was in the ornamental plants and products sector with 30.5 percent.
In the industrial group, which realized 75.5 percent of Turkey’s total exports last month, exports of 11 billion 153 million 283 thousand dollars were made, with an increase of 5.1 percent compared to the same period of 2019.
In the said period, exports of 2 billion 50 million 283 thousand dollars were achieved in the agricultural group, which constituted 13.9 percent of total exports, with an increase of 9 percent, and 330 million 359 thousand dollars of exports were achieved in the mining group, which had a 2.2 percent share of total exports, with an increase of 8.6 percent.
Most exports were to Germany
Looking at the country data, the top 3 countries with the most exports were Germany with 1.4 billion dollars, Italy with 889 million dollars and the United Kingdom with 870 million dollars, respectively. While the share of the top 10 countries in exports was 49.2 percent, this share in the top 20 countries was 67.1 percent. The share of the European Union, Turkey’s largest market, in exports was 50 percent in January.
When we look at the exports of the provinces, 53 provinces increased their exports in January. The first 3 provinces with the most exports are respectively; Istanbul attracted attention with 5.6 billion dollars, Kocaeli with 1.3 billion dollars and Bursa with 1.2 billion dollars.
The most remarkable increases were observed in Karabük, which achieved 30 million dollars in exports with an increase of 110 percent, Kırklareli, which reached 11 million dollars with an increase of 33 percent, and Giresun, which exported 17 million dollars with an increase of 33 percent. Steel, Machinery and Ready-made Clothing sectors in Karabük, Cereals in Kırklareli and Hazelnuts in Giresun reinforced their export success in January.
During the month, TL was used in exports to 174 countries, the total figure was 4.4 billion TL. 6 thousand 404 companies preferred Turkish Lira in their declarations in January.
Parity loss: $197.8 million
In terms of quantity, exports increased by 13.9 percent in January, reaching 12.9 million tons. Finally, in January, the impact of euro/dollar parity was negative, amounting to 197.8 million dollars.
