The monthly resource transferred to Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations has been increased to 180 million liras.

Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk said, “With the permission of our President, we increased the amount of resources we regularly transfer to Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations (SYDV) every month from 135 million lira to 180 million lira.” said.

The Ministry, which has implemented strict measures in all institutions, from nursing homes to disabled care and rehabilitation institutions, from women’s shelters to children’s homes, to prevent the spread of the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19), is also implementing new decisions to protect citizens in need against the economic effects of the epidemic.

In this context, a significant increase was made in the “periodic share” transferred by the Ministry to 1003 SYDVs across Turkey, which carry out social service activities for the disadvantaged segments of the society.

By increasing the financial resources in question, it is aimed for more people to benefit from the social assistance provided to citizens in need.

“We aim to prevent possible victimization of beneficiaries”

Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, in her statement to the AA correspondent on the subject, said, “Our Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations in our provinces and districts perform a very important task in delivering social aid to disadvantaged segments. With the permissions of our President, we regularly visit SYDVs every month.” “We increased the amount of resources we transferred from 135 million lira to 180 million lira.” gave the information.

Stating that resources are transferred regularly every month from the Social Assistance and Solidarity Encouragement Fund to SYDVs within the scope of “periodic share”, Selçuk said:

“With the update, the periodic share of SYDVs has been increased. While calculating the periodic shares, 8 indicators such as current population, gross domestic product per capita, and active household file are used, and thus an objective method is followed in the distribution of the shares in question.

“With the new regulation we have made in resource transfer, we aim to prevent possible disruptions in the services of SYDVs and to prevent possible grievances of social assistance beneficiaries in the most disadvantaged segments of society.”

Minister Selçuk also stated that 1000 lira cash support would be provided to 2 million households benefiting from regular social assistance within the scope of the Economic Stability Shield Package announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Citizens of the Republic of Turkey in need who meet the criteria within the scope of the Social Assistance and Solidarity Encouragement Law No. 3294 and the Law No. 2022 on Pension Grants to Needy, Powerless and Orphaned Turkish Citizens and who currently receive regular social assistance will benefit from the support. There will be no need to apply to benefit from the support, and payments will start at the end of the month.
