Following the last meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk announced the minimum wage valid for 2020.
In his statement, Minister Selçuk announced that the minimum wage was determined as 2 thousand 943 lira gross and 2 thousand 324 lira net for 2020. Selçuk said that the minimum wage for a married worker with three children is 2 thousand 479 liras and 21 kuruş.
“This year, our Minimum Wage Determination Commission took its decision by majority vote.” Selçuk said, “We will continue to maintain the minimum wage support as 75 lira for all businesses in 2020.” he said.

Selçuk said, “We have achieved an increase well above the inflation rate. We have fulfilled our promise of ‘We will not subject our workers to inflation’ with a majority vote.” he said.
The current minimum wage is 2 thousand 20 lira net
Currently, the monthly gross minimum wage for a single worker is 2 thousand 558 lira and 40 kuruş, but when taxes and deductions are reduced, the net wage is 2 thousand 20 lira and 90 kuruş. The minimum wage for apartment staff is calculated as a net 2 thousand 174 lira and 64 kuruş, as income and stamp taxes are not deducted, unlike regular workers.
The total cost of the minimum wage to the employer is 3 thousand 6 lira and 12 kuruş for one worker. Of this, 2 thousand 558 liras and 40 cents are gross minimum wage, 396 liras and 55 cents are social security premiums, and 51 liras and 17 cents are employer unemployment insurance fund.
