The opening ceremony of the 42nd Tourism Week events organized by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism took place on Monday, April 16th, at the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum. Istanbul Governor Vasip Şahin, who attended the opening ceremony, stated, “One of the most significant problems in Istanbul is transportation to and within the city.” Governor Şahin mentioned that with the 3rd Airport, Istanbul is entering a “golden age,” and he emphasized the need to improve accessibility for tourists. He expressed the hope that Istanbul, with its increased capacity and new airport, will be able to host more tourists in the future. LASİAD was represented by Vice President of the Board of Directors, Erdem Soylu Karabağlı, during the opening ceremony. Karabağlı also had a meeting with Andrey Podelyshev, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul.
