At the meeting, representatives of the ministries of Treasury, Finance and Trade and TÜİK are expected to present economic data and reports to the commission.
The Minimum Wage Determination Commission, consisting of workers, employers and government representatives, met for the second time within the scope of negotiations to determine the minimum wage that will be valid in 2020.
In the commission convened at Türk-İş under the chairmanship of Labor General Manager Nurcan Önder, Türk-İş General Education Secretary Nazmi Irgat represented the workers, and Turkish Confederation of Employers’ Unions (TİSK) Secretary General Akansel Koç represented the employers.
Türk-İş Chairman Ergün Atalay, as the host, made a greeting speech to the members of the commission. Stating that they carried out the minimum wage process with Hak-İş and DİSK this year, Atalay said that they will inform the two confederations after today’s meeting. Emphasizing that they will not accept a figure below one person’s cost of living, which is 2 thousand 578 liras, Atalay said:
“We are at the same point. The figure requested by DİSK is different. Hak-İş says, ‘If there is a common figure, we will contribute’. At this stage, we need to see the process. The commission will work, hopefully there will be a good meeting in favor of the employees, if a good figure is announced, we will We will be happy too.”
“COMMISSION WILL LISTEN TO DATA AND REPORTS”
General Director of Labor Nurcan Önder stated that the Minimum Wage Determination Commission is an independent commission and emphasized that the commission tries to determine the new minimum wage according to the living conditions of the employees and the economic situation of the country.
Önder stated that in the first meeting, they asked the Ministries of Treasury, Finance and Trade and TURKSTAT to present data and reports on certain issues to the commission and said, “Today, we expect representatives of public institutions to make presentations. The commission will listen to these data and reports.” said.

The process of minimum wage negotiations, which directly concerns nearly 7 million employees, started with the first meeting on December 2, hosted by the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services.
