The world e-export market is expected to exceed 1 trillion dollars this year

Çağdaş Yeşilbağ, Deputy Chairman of the World E-Commerce Forum, stated that the world e-export market is expected to exceed 1 trillion dollars this year.

The “Central Anatolia E-Export Conference”, organized by the Forum under the auspices of Eskişehir Governorship, in cooperation with Eskişehir Chamber of Industry (ESO) and Anadolu University (AÜ), was held at AÜ Atatürk Cultural Center.

Speaking at the opening of the event, Eskişehir Governor Özdemir Çakacak said that digital transformation is gaining momentum in every sector.

Stating that the most change in digital environments is experienced in commerce, Çakacak explained that shopping in the world has shifted to e-commerce.

Emphasizing that large companies in the world make most of their turnover through e-commerce and e-export, Governor Çakacak stated that Turkey’s current situation should be analyzed and appropriate steps should be taken for new trade.

Çakacak noted that the share of exports and e-exports should be increased in Eskişehir, one of the locomotive provinces in development, and said, “As Eskişehir, we have to give priority to this awareness in our region. Digitalization is increasing at a terrible pace. The private sector that cannot keep up with this speed will disappear. As Eskişehir, we cannot stay out of e-commerce. ” said.

“We must keep up with digital change”

Çağdaş Yeşilbağ also stated that they have a vision of making Turkey a regional and global e-commerce center.

Stating that they offer a road map to companies or individuals receiving training and consultancy services regarding e-export, Yeşilbağ said:

“Retail e-commerce sales worldwide are expected to be 4.5 trillion dollars in 2020, and the e-export market is expected to reach or exceed 1 trillion dollars. Our SMEs and companies are expected to rapidly enter the digital transformation process to increase the added value and competitiveness of our country’s economy.” “We have to ensure that it is integrated. In order to keep up with digital change, we must take the right steps and start from the right place. We hope that Eskişehir, which we know with its industry and industrialists, strategic location and hard-working people, will lead the way in e-export in Central Anatolia.”

ESO President Celalettin Kesikbaş also stated that, as a chamber, they focus on education, export and production.

Stating that Eskişehir’s exports are constantly growing and starting to give a current account surplus, Kesikbaş pointed out that producers need young generations with high potential.

Kesikbaş said:

“An electronics engineering diploma is no longer sufficient; it is necessary to complete its sub-divisions. E-export has the potential to carry university youth to the future. It is not enough to put products on e-commerce sites. Unless we put our creative intelligence on the sites, it will not be successful.”
