TİM President Gülle: There is no country or region we do not export to

President of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Ismail Gülle, said, “We export to 223 countries and regions in the world. There is no country or region to which we do not export. We are proud of them, we sell little, we sell a lot, but we are definitely present in every market.” said.

In his statement to the AA correspondent, Gülle said that 2020 started with export records, and despite all global and regional developments and uncertainties, the highest February export record in the history of the Republic was reached last month.

Stating that exports increased by 2.3 percent in February to 14.7 billion dollars, Gülle noted that they are taking firm steps to reach the year-end export target of 190 billion dollars.

Gülle stated that cyclical developments will contribute to exports in the coming months and that they want to exceed their export targets with their month-to-month performance.

Emphasizing that the leader of February was the automotive sector with 2.52 billion dollars of exports, Gülle said, “Automotive was followed by the ready-made clothing sector with 1.52 billion dollars of exports and the chemical materials sectors with 1.51 billion dollars of exports. Over 10 percent of the exports of 7 sectors.” “There was an increase. We can say that there were increases in almost all of our sectors.” he said.

Gülle stated that 1,555 companies joined the export family for the first time last month and said:

“These companies, which have just started exporting, exported 127 million dollars in February. When we look at the company specifically, a total of 39 thousand 248 companies exported in February. This table is a proud picture that the export awareness and the process of spreading exports to the base have been successfully implemented. Last year, 27 thousand 248 companies exported. “1850 new exporters joined our export family. Thus, for the first time in the history of the Republic, the number of exporters exceeded the number of importers.”

“The contribution of net exports to growth is 2.3 points”

İsmail Gülle stated that exporters managed to fly the Turkish flag in 207 countries and regions in February and said, “We export to 223 countries and regions in the world. There is no country or region that we do not export to. We are proud of them, we sell little, we sell a lot, but we are definitely present in every market. “We do this in an area of approximately 3 thousand kilometers. However, world trade is on average 6 thousand 500 kilometers. Here we need to increase our kilometers a little more to increase our density. When we do this, we will go beyond achieving our goals and break new records.” he said.

Pointing out that the contribution of net exports to growth in 2019 made a very valuable contribution to GDP closing the year with a positive growth, with 2.3 points, Gülle said:

“We want exports to make a significant contribution while achieving the growth target of 5 percent this year. Because exports are now the most important parameter of growth. Exports are the most important factor of growth and development. In this respect, the more we increase export figures and the more we expand our export family, “It will be extremely easy to achieve the goals if we achieve success in this regard. The exporter strives for the development, welfare and prosperity of the people of this country and achieves significant successes. That is why I am very happy to represent this great family and work with them.”

Gülle stated that logistics opportunities and proximity to the European market provide a great advantage to Turkey compared to other countries, and said, “We need to make good use of this advantage. Because the closer we can be to developing markets and the more successful we can be in our exports with neighboring countries, the more effective the results we will get from here.” “In particular, the fact that the impact of the new type of coronavirus on world trade is gradually emerging in almost all countries drives us to be much more careful and efficient in this regard. While carrying out our exports, we need to protect ourselves from these factors and continue our production safely. What has been done so far “The studies have had a positive impact on us. We must continue good management until a solution to this virus is found.” he said.
