Speaking at the Stars of Export Award Ceremony organized by the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EİB) in a hotel, İsmail Gülle thanked the companies that increased their exports despite many negativities experienced in the world.
Stating that they work hard every day to increase Turkey’s exports, Gülle said that they do not do an easy job in such a competitive environment.
Reminding that the year started with bad events such as news of martyrs, avalanche disasters and earthquakes, Gülle mentioned that there was good news in exports and that they achieved the most exports in January.
Speaking about February’s exports, Gülle said, “Hopefully, we will reveal a meaningful record and figure in February as well.” said.
Stating that there may be unexpected situations this year, Gülle said:
“As TİM, we sent masks, disinfectants and many medicines to show that we are on China’s side. Our intention is not to take advantage of China’s situation. We are on the humanitarian side of this business, not on the opportunistic side. However, we are not going to turn our back on the opportunities awaited by the world’s trade conjuncture. “It may have negative effects on tourism, but it will definitely have positive effects on exports of goods. We need to read and evaluate these carefully.”
Target is 200 billion dollars
Pointing out that they will realize very good projects, Gülle said, “Hopefully, we are determined and determined to increase our country’s exports to 190 billion dollars this year and above the 200 billion dollars we all want and expect in the coming years.” he said.
EİB Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi said that as a union, they achieved exports of 13 billion 301 million dollars in 2019.
Stating that the coronavirus has affected the entire world economy, Eskinazi said, “This disaster that happened to one of the world’s largest economies, even the most important exporter of goods, is considered to have happened to all of us. In this system where all the actors of the global economy are chained to each other, what needs to be done is to join hands and put things in order.” “Fortunately, we know that we have fulfilled this duty as a country. We have proudly seen that all institutions of our state, especially our Ministry of Commerce, provide all kinds of assistance to China. I hope this virus will be overcome as soon as possible and world trade will regain its former course.” he said.
Touching on the importance of market alternatives in this context, Eskinazi said, “Especially after the 2008 crisis, we have all fully understood the importance of market diversification after the negativities experienced by our sectors focused on the American market.” said.
Following the speeches, 56 awards were given to companies that were successful within the union.
Izmir Governor Erol Ayyıldız, Izmir Provincial Police Chief Hüseyin Aşkın, representatives of chambers and exporting companies in the city attended the award ceremony.
