Treatment of coronavirus cases is classified as an ’emergency’

The Communiqué Amending the Health Implementation Communiqué (SUT) was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

Accordingly, the definition of “emergency” in the third paragraph of Article 1.7 of the communiqué was revised and epidemics were included in the scope of emergency health services.

The new definition of “emergency”, which allows the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) cases to be recorded as “emergency”, was made as follows in the SUT:

“Emergency includes situations that require medical intervention within the first 24 hours following the occurrence of sudden illness, accident, injury and similar situations, and situations where it is accepted that there is a risk of loss of life and/or health integrity if medical intervention is not provided urgently or if it is transferred to another health institution, and diagnosis and treatment for pandemic cases during the pandemic. Health services provided for this reason are considered as emergency health services.”

“Diagnosis and treatment of pandemic cases during the pandemic” has been added to Article 1.9.3 of the SUT under the heading of “health services for which no additional fee will be charged”.

In addition, the “immune plasma supply and application” technique was included in the SUT in order to isolate antibodies that will stop this disease from the blood of people who defeated the coronavirus disease and use them in the treatment of other people.

After the phrase “defined medicines” in subparagraph d of the first paragraph of Article 2.1.2.B of the same communiqué, the phrase “medicines for the treatment of pandemic, which are declared by the Ministry of Health to be provided by hospitals during the pandemic” was added. Thus, the drugs used in the treatment of Covid-19 were included in the payment list of the SSI.
