In a written statement, Trump announced that he signed the bill condemning human rights violations against the Muslim minority in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and imposing sanctions on some Chinese officials.
The bill was approved by the Senate on May 15 and the House of Representatives on May 27 and submitted for Trump’s signature.
The bill calls on US President Donald Trump’s administration to impose sanctions on some Chinese officials responsible for the oppression and violence against Uyghur Turks and other Muslim minorities.
