According to the information received from the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters Association, exports of railway vehicles, one of the sub-groups of the automotive industry, which was 27 million 634 thousand dollars in 2018, amounted to 68 million 457 thousand dollars in 2019.
The sector, which exported to 18 countries and one free zone last year, managed to export to 12 countries to which it had not sent any products in 2018.
Last year, the railway vehicle sector exported 3.3 million dollars to Austria, Spain, Singapore, Romania, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Ukraine, Kosovo, Libya, Yemen, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, to which no products were sent in 2018.
Industry representatives exported 1 million 147 thousand dollars to Macedonia, where samples were sent the previous year, in 2019.
Exports to Thailand increased by 110 percent
Thailand ranked first among the countries with the most exports in the railway vehicle sector. Exports to this country increased by 110 percent compared to 2018, rising from 15 million dollars to 31 million 695 thousand dollars.
There was an approximately 5-fold increase in exports to Germany. The exports of the country in question reached 515 thousand dollars from 110 thousand dollars.
